What to Expect During a Comprehensive Eye Exam

A comprehensive eye exam is designed to assess vision and eye health, including changes that may not be noticeable day to day. During your visit, our eye doctor reviews your visual needs, examines the front and back of the eye, and, when appropriate, uses diagnostic imaging to document eye health. If your exam findings suggest additional care, such as dry eye treatment, myopia management, contact lenses, or medical eye care, we explain what we’re seeing and discuss next steps in a clear, patient-first way.

Prescription Updates and Everyday Vision Needs

Many patients schedule comprehensive eye exams to update their prescription for glasses or contact lenses and to stay proactive about eye health.

Our optometrist evaluates how you use your vision day to day, including screen-related visual strain, and recommends options to support comfort and clarity.

Modern Imaging to Support Eye Health Decisions

Modern Eyes Optometry uses modern diagnostic technology to support accurate evaluation and clear communication.

Depending on your needs, our eye doctor may use OCT imaging (Topcon Maestro 2) and a digital slit lamp (Firefly) to assess eye health and explain findings in a straightforward way.

These tools can support early detection and, when appropriate, ongoing monitoring.

When an Eye Exam Leads to Medical Eye Care

Comprehensive eye exams can reveal signs that require medical attention or ongoing monitoring.

Our eye doctor provides medical eye care for concerns such as glaucoma management, diabetic eye exams with reporting to your primary care provider (PCP), eye infections, flashes and floaters evaluations, retinal detachment screening, and macular degeneration detection with referral when needed.

For urgent concerns, we offer same-day eye care during office hours. We do not provide after-hours or on-call emergency eye care.
