Get your Eye Exam Done Regularly and Avoid Bigger Problems Later

Attending regular eye exams remains to be the best way to catch problems with vision when they first being. At Modern Eyes Optometry, we believe the best care is preventative care. Whether we are preventing further damage or catching a condition before it worsens. Optometrists are trained to use the time during eye exams to detect any eye issues they find by using tools that help diagnose them. Once diagnosed an optometrist will be able to prevent potentially bigger problems. You won’t be able to determine if a condition is affecting your vision alone, by sight. Sometimes issues are only diagnosed using tools like the one located in our office in the Carlsbad and Encinitas area.

Looking for What the Patient Can’t See

In many cases, people between the ages of 20 and 45 do not realize their vision is or already has started to degrade. Our skilled optometry staff wants to look deeper and beyond what you may see. We follow a specific survey during an exam. This survey is a checklist of what we examine in each eye, to make check for any issues and conditions, you should know about. Even if you are not aware of any particular problem or concern when requesting the exam, there could always be something beyond what you can see at home. This checklist tests for conditions such as glaucoma or retinal problems, macular degeneration, contaminants or parasites, color reception, eye muscle capability or loss of strength, lens focusing and light sensitivity, and peripheral vision capability. This list alone allows an optometrist to catch a large number of eye problems in their infancy, with a simple annual eye exam.
